HO Dash 9-44CW Locomotive with DCC & Sound, UP #9708 (ATHG31676)

An HO-scale Dash 9-44CW Locomotive with DCC & Sound in Union Pacific livery (UP 9708) is a ready-to-run model designed for realistic mainline freight operation on a model railroad. This detailed HO locomotive includes an onboard DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound system with dual speakers for authentic engine, horn, and bell audio and can run on both DC and DCC layouts. It uses Quick Plug plug-and-play technology with a 21-pin NEM connector for easy decoder upgrades, and a GPS dome is included for later-era UP operation.

Prototype detailing includes a 1994 UP paint scheme with CNW heritage patches and related logo treatments, plus period-correct touches such as ghost CNW numbers and burn marks. The model features LED ground lights above the front trucks, front and rear walkway lighting, illuminated number boards, and etched see-through walkway steps, all mounted on a heavy die-cast chassis with RP25 wheels for smooth, reliable operation. It is designed for HO layouts with an 18-inch minimum radius (22 inches recommended) and, thanks to Primed for grime styling, provides a great starting point for weathering to recreate an in-service appearance, with onboard sound and DCC control for authentic operation.
