HO U50 Locomotive UP #52 (ATHG41077)

HO-scale Union Pacific U50 Locomotive, road number 52, is a detailed ready-to-run model that faithfully reproduces UP’s 5,000-horsepower U50 concept. The prototype combined two 2,500-horsepower prime movers on one chassis to boost horsepower, and this model captures that twin-engine arrangement on an HO layout. It sports road-number graphics including the “Dependable Transportation” slogan used on #52, along with illuminated truck lights, illuminated classification lights, and illuminated number boards, plus see-through air intakes and MU hoses for realistic lash-ups. Designed for both DC and DCC operation, it uses DCC-ready Quick Plug technology with a 21-pin NEM connector, and sound-equipped variants add SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound with four cube speakers for authentic engine, horn, and bell audio.

Built for HO layouts, the U50 model is sized to handle common HO radii with a minimum of 18 inches (22 inches recommended). A heavy die-cast frame provides traction and pulling power, and RP25-contoured wheels keep operation smooth with most HO track. It includes full cab interior and see-through cab windows, fine-scale Celcon handrails, and LED lighting for reliable operation. Optional sound versions pair with Tsunami2 for lifelike audio, while the DCC-ready design remains NMRA-compatible for CV tweaks. Fully assembled and ready to run, this UP U50 delivers a convincing, prototypical centerpiece for late-1960s to early-1970s freight on an HO layout.
