This HO-scale U50 locomotive with DCC and sound for Southern Pacific is a ready-to-run, highly detailed replica of the prototype’s twin-engine freight hauler. It captures the U50’s imposing profile and performance with two 2,500-hp prime movers powering eight traction motors for believable pulling power on DCC-equipped layouts.

Features include SP’s Big Hole emergency light (flash in DCC), illuminated classification lights, and working truck lights plus illuminated number boards, along with see-through air intakes and a full cab interior with walkways and windshield wipers. It also includes MU hoses, Trainline hose, coupler cut levers, wire grab irons, and fine-scale Celcon handrails, all mounted on a heavy die-cast frame with body-mounted McHenry knuckle couplers. A Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor, precision flywheels, and a multi-link drivetrain delivers smooth, quiet operation, supported by all-wheel drive and electrical pickup; RP25 wheel contours fit a wide range of HO tracks, and LED lighting provides reliable visibility. The DCC-ready design uses Quick Plug 21-pin NM connectors for easy decoder installation. Sound-equipped versions add an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 and four cube speakers, delivering engine, horn, and bell sounds in both DC and DCC modes with full DCC functionality and tunable CVs (CV chart included). The model is accurately painted in SP livery, scaled from prototype measurements for authentic detail and dependable layout performance.
