Genesis Motor Retrofit Kit for RTR SD45/SD40 locomotives is a DCC-ready upgrade designed to improve performance on these models. It helps deliver smoother DCC speed control, lower motor current draw, and quieter operation when using DCC sound, helping a classic RTR locomotive run more reliably on modern layouts.

Designed for easy installation, the kit features molded-on motor saddle mounts, balanced flywheels, and pre-soldered motor wire leads. It includes an extended Dog-Bone universal joint and mounting screws, and it is NMRA 8-pin and decoder-harness compatible for straightforward DCC-ready wiring. The kit is designed for use with the DCC-Sound Ready underframe; on older RTR SD45/SD40 units that lack the Sound Ready markings, the underframe can be purchased separately to complete the upgrade.
