Santa Fe SDP40F HO-scale Locomotive — a detailed reproduction of the late-1970s Santa Fe SDP40F freight locomotive, designed for authentic operation on HO layouts. This release captures two early front-end variants, including #5253 with plated-over steps and enclosed platform and #5256 with open steps and open platform, both featuring air conditioning and a forward beacon with horn. See-through air intake grills and MU hoses add to the realistic silhouette, making it a convincing centerpiece for freight or mixed-traffic scenes.

On the rails, the model showcases illuminated ground lights, classification lights, and number boards, plus working truck lights and front/rear trainline hoses. It rides on an eight-wheel-drive platform with a heavy die-cast frame for traction and quiet operation, and uses DCC-ready Quick Plug technology with a 21-pin NEM connector for easy DCC upgrades. Sound-equipped variants add onboard DCC decoders with Tsunami2 sound and dual speakers, delivering engine, horn, and bell sounds in both DC and DCC modes. Fully assembled and ready-to-run, it suits DC or DCC layouts and is recommended for minimum 18" curves (22" for best performance).
