HO GP40P-2 Locomotive SP/80's Version #7600 (ATHG64835)

HO GP40P-2 Locomotive SP/80s Version No. 7600 is a detailed HO-scale model of Southern Pacific’s GP40P-2 power from the 1980s. This variant reproduces SP’s Bay Area commuter fleet as it shifted to freight service, featuring a 3600-gallon fuel tank, a large front plow, and a roof-mounted A/C unit and bell. It also reflects late-body updates such as a modified front window and a P3 horn, while preserving the full SP front lighting package and lit number boards for added realism. The 7600–7602 group was renumbered for SP service, with 7600 later wearing the Speed Letter scheme.

Under the hood, the GP40-2-based chassis delivers smooth operation through a Genesis drive and a heavy die-cast frame for traction. LED lighting, see-through cab with interior, and scale-detail features such as handrails and etched fan grilles enhance realism. It is DCC-ready with Quick Plug and a 21-pin NM connector, and sound-equipped versions include a SoundTraxx Tsunami2 decoder with dual speakers. The model runs on HO track with a minimum radius of 18 inches and accepts body-mounted couplers; optional MU hoses, trainline hoses, and Legendary Liveries provide extra ways to customize an SP roster from the era.
