HO-scale Maine Central GP40-2L locomotive in Harvest Gold livery, MEC 277. This model, part of Athearn’s Legendary Liveries collection, recreates a GP40-2L unit that MEC might have operated into the 1980s after a possible secondhand acquisition from CN, making it a vivid centerpiece for freight-era layouts.

Power comes from a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor, heavy die-cast frame, and all-wheel drive for smooth, quiet operation. It features a see-through cab with a full interior, fine Celcon handrails, etched metal fan grilles, lit number boards, and a detailed fuel tank with fillers and gauges. The model is DCC-ready with Quick Plug and a 21-pin NEM connector, and LED lighting adds to the realistic appearance.
