HO GP40-2 Locomotive with DCC and Sound DT&I #422 (ATHG64932)

HO GP40-2 Locomotive with DCC and Sound DT&I #422 (ATHG64932)

HO GP40-2 Locomotive with DCC and Sound in the DT&I late-1970s star livery recreates EMD's GP40-2 used on high-speed TOFC service. The DT&I #422 release captures the last locomotive order in this scheme and includes key prototype details such as corrugated grilles, a newly tooled xenon beacon with bracket, a large EMD plow, a silver bell, a nose-mounted bell, extra nose grab irons, and a front anticlimber. The model comes sound-equipped with an on-board DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Tsunami2, delivering authentic engine, horn, and bell sounds that operate in both DC and DCC.

On the layout, it features a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole motor and multi-link drivetrain for smooth, quiet operation, a heavy die-cast frame for traction, and RP25 wheel contours for compatibility with most popular tracks. LED lighting with lit number boards and class lights, see-through cab windows with a full interior, fine-scale Celcon handrails, and etched metal fan grilles add realism. A DCC-ready Quick Plug 21-pin NEM interface makes installation straightforward, and a CV chart is included for tuning. The Legendary Liveries series offers additional era-appropriate paint schemes for proto-freelance or display, and the model is designed for minimum radii of 18 inches.
