HO GP40-2 Locomotive with DCC and Sound, DT&I #424 (ATHG64933)

Introducing the HO-scale GP40-2 Locomotive with DCC and Sound in DT&I's late-1970s star-logo livery, road number 424. This detailed model reproduces the GP40-2 used on mainline freights and high-speed TOFC service, built to run on HO layouts with authentic DT&I styling. It features a nose-mounted bell, Xenon beacon (with DCC effect), M3 horn, extra nose grab irons, front plow, firecracker antenna, and a non-dynamic brake hatch. In the DT&I variant, the model showcases corrugated grilles, a newly tooled Xenon beacon with bracket, a large EMD plow, a silver bell, and a large front anticlimber, faithfully capturing the prototype look, with see-through cab windows revealing a full cab interior and lighting on the number boards and class lights when used with DCC.

Under the shell, the locomotive is built for realistic operation: an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound and dual speakers, operable in both DC and DCC, with full DCC function control. It is DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play technology and a 21-pin NEM connector for easy decoder upgrades. The drivetrain features a Genesis-style 5-pole motor, precision flywheels, and an all-wheel drive for smooth, quiet performance, while RP25 wheels and scale handrails enhance realism. A heavy die-cast frame provides traction, LED lighting adds to the prototype look, and the model is primed for grime with authentic wear options.
