This HO-scale model recreates NS’s modern SD60E remanufacture for HO layouts, delivering a realistic locomotive with built-in DCC and sound to bring the layout to life. The Veterans edition features authentic paint and the Leslie RS5T horn for an unmistakable prototype look and sound.

Designed for serious operation, the model includes a heavy die-cast frame for traction, LED lighting with lit number boards, deck and ditch lights, see-through cab windows, and a detailed interior. It uses McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible) and RP25 wheels for reliable tracking and coupling, and is DCC-ready with a plug-and-play 21-pin interface. In sound-equipped versions, onboard SoundTraxx Tsunami2 delivers engine, horn, and bell sounds through dual speakers and runs in both DC and DCC with NMRA-compatible functions and precise slow-speed control. The locomotive supports MU lashups and CV tuning (CV chart included), with a minimum recommended radius of 22 inches (18 inches minimum). Additionally, road-number variations in the SD60E lineup may feature different fuel-tank sizes and NS Horsehead cut-outs for added prototype fidelity.
