HO GP50 Norfolk Southern #7037 Locomotive (ATHG65821)

HO GP50 Norfolk Southern #7037 Locomotive (ATHG65821)

This HO-scale GP50 locomotive in Norfolk Southern livery reproduces NS #7037. Built in 1980 for the Southern Railway and later repainted into NS colors after the 1982 merger, this long-hood-forward GP50 captures the era’s distinctive silhouette with a rounded blower housing, a high short hood, and period details such as dual 5-chime horns on both ends, a hood-mounted bell, dual firecracker antennas, Timken bearing trucks, hood-mounted walkway lights (non-operational), and large EMD-style plows and ditch lights. Ready-to-run and fully assembled, it provides an authentic Norfolk Southern appearance for NS-era scenes on an HO layout.

Inside, the GP50 features a full cab interior and see-through cab windows, plus wire grab irons, etched see-through steps, and fine-scale Celcon handrails for a crisp, scale appearance. The Genesis driveline combines a heavy die-cast frame with all-wheel drive and reliable electrical pickup for smooth operation on HO track. It is DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play and a 21-pin NEM connector, with sound-equipped versions offering onboard DCC decoders with Tsunami2 sound and dual speakers for realistic engine, horn, and bell effects. Couplers are McHenry knuckle types (Kadee-compatible) and RP25 wheels ensure smooth running on standard track. For best performance, use on curves with a minimum radius of 18 inches, and 22 inches is recommended.
