HO GP50 Locomotive BN #3141 (ATHG65826)

HO GP50 Locomotive BN #3141 (ATHG65826)

HO Scale Burlington Northern GP50 Locomotive, BN #3141. This fully assembled, ready-to-run HO model faithfully reproduces the GP50’s Phase II body with an angled blower housing and a host of scale details, including a full cab interior, see-through cab windows, wire grab irons, etched see-through steps, walkways, lift rings, and other fine touches. Built on a heavy die-cast frame with RP25 wheel contours, the model uses a Genesis driveline with a five-pole motor, precision flywheels, and a multi-link drivetrain for smooth, quiet operation and reliable power pickup. It’s designed to be DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play technology and a 21-pin NEM connector for easy decoder installation.

For BN #3141, the orange/black front and Western Cullen beacon reflect the prototype’s late-era livery. The GP50 line offers a grime-ready option to evoke an in-service, weathered look, and sound-equipped versions feature an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound and dual cube speakers, with sound units operating in both DC and DCC—full DCC functions are available in DCC mode while engine, horn, and bell sounds operate in DC. The GP50 is a four-axle diesel road switcher produced by EMD between 1980 and 1985, powered by a 16-cylinder 645F3B engine at roughly 3,500–3,600 horsepower; 278 were built. On HO layouts it benefits from scale detailing such as fuel fillers, gauges, breathers, and etched handrails, while its heavy frame, RP25 wheels, and radii of 18 inches (22 inches recommended) support reliable operation and striking presence.
