HO 50' PC&F Smooth Side Boxcar with 10'6" Door (Southern Pacific / Cushion) (ATHG68952)

HO-scale 50-foot Smooth-Side Boxcar with a 10 ft 6 in door, finished in Southern Pacific livery with a cushion underframe. Based on the Pacific Car & Foundry design from the 1960s, this insulated boxcar was used to haul temperature-sensitive freight such as canned goods, and the model reproduces the prototype's distinctive smooth-side panels and door arrangement for authentic operation on HO layouts.

From the ground up, the model features separately applied wire grab irons, etched metal coupler platforms, and an etched roofwalk, plus full underframe detail including an air brake reservoir, control valve, brake cylinder with plumbing, and brake rigging. It is weighted for reliable running, rides on trucks with rotating bearing caps, and uses body-mounted McHenry scale double-shelf knuckle couplers. Machined metal wheels with RP25 contours ensure smooth operation on popular HO track, and the finish is accurately painted and printed for prototypical realism. Designed for HO layouts, it supports a minimum 18-inch radius with a 22-inch radius recommended for best performance.
