HO 50' PC&F Boxcar EFCX #3648 (ATHG68993)

This HO-scale 50-foot Pacific Car & Foundry boxcar in EFCX livery is a highly detailed, ready-to-run model designed for HO layouts. Recreating a 1960s insulated boxcar, it features authentic side-panel construction and eight-foot YSD plug doors, along with separately applied wire grab irons, etched metal coupler platforms and a detailed roofwalk. The underframe is fully modeled with an air-brake reservoir, control valve and brake cylinders with plumbing, and the model is weighted for smooth, reliable operation. Machined metal wheels with RP25 contours ride on the trucks, and body-mounted McHenry scale double-shelf knuckle couplers provide realistic coupling. Finished in prototypical paint and printing, this car is built to run on common HO track with a minimum radius of 18 inches (22 inches recommended).

Prototype background: The design reflects 1960s insulated boxcars built by Pacific Car & Foundry to haul temperature-sensitive loads such as canned goods. The model reproduces prototype variations in side panels and door types, including eight-foot YSD plug doors, and adds a cushion underframe with full brake rigging for an authentic, operation-ready representation of the EFCX boxcar.
