HO 4-8-2 MT-4 Steam Locomotive with Skyline Casing (ATHG71558)

An HO-scale Southern Pacific MT-4 Mountain steam locomotive, offered with Skyline casing or in a standard black finish, recreates SP’s 4-8-2 Mountain engines from the 1920s onward. The Skyline casing was introduced around 1939 to streamline the silhouette, and this model faithfully captures that distinctive look along with period-accurate cab, boiler, and tender detailing. It’s designed for HO layouts where historical accuracy and nuanced craftsmanship matter.

Beyond its authentic silhouette, the model features metal handrails, builder’s plates, cab interior details, lighted number boards, and a riveted firebox. It can be equipped with or without Skyline casing and includes see-through running boards with safety tread, adjustable cab windows and doors, and McHenry operating knuckle couplers with a front pocket that accepts an operating coupler. Modern enhancements include dual-cube sound, LED headlights, and an upgraded loco-to-tender connection harness, along with improved electrical pickup and traction for smoother operation on HO track with a 22-inch minimum radius.
