HO NSC 6400 Gondola with Scrap Load (ATHG76725)

HO Scale NSC 6,400-Cubic-Foot Gondola with Scrap Load is a high-fidelity freight car designed to add realistic bulk-haul capability to an HO layout. Based on National Steel Car’s 6,400-cubic-foot gondolas introduced starting in 2006, this model captures the prototype’s variations and includes a removable scrap load on non-covered versions for added display and operating options.

From nine build variations spanning 2006 to today, the gondola offers multiple body styles, end variations, top chords, and ladder variations. It features etched crossover platforms, metal grab irons, and precise brake piping in metal and plastic components, along with newly-tooled Barber S-2-E 100-ton trucks with animated bearing caps and printed road numbers. Body-mounted McHenry lower-shelf couplers, NMRA-standard weighting, and a minimum operating radius of 22 inches (24 inches recommended) support reliable operation on common layouts. Developed by National Steel Car beginning in 2006, these 6,400-cubic-foot NSC gondolas are presented here with the modern Athearn Genesis detailing to elevate a contemporary roster.
