HO-scale NSC 6400 Gondola with Cover is an HO model that faithfully recreates National Steel Car’s modern 6,400 cubic-foot gondolas, brought to life in the Athearn Genesis line. It captures nine build variations from 2006 to the present, including multiple body styles, end variations, top chords, ladders, etched crossover platforms, and metal grab irons, with accurate brake piping and newly-tooled Barber 100-ton trucks featuring animated bearing caps and printed road numbers. This is the covered version, so the removable scrap load found on non-covered variants is not included here.

Designed for HO layouts, the car is weighted to NMRA standards for reliable operation and uses body-mounted McHenry lower-shelf couplers. It’s built for modern-track performance, with a minimum radius of 22 inches and 24 inches recommended for best results, delivering a durable, scale-accurate addition to a contemporary freight roster.
