HO NSC 6400 Gondola with Scrap Load (ATHG76731)

HO NSC 6400 gondola with scrap load is a detailed HO-scale freight car that reproduces National Steel Car’s 6,400-cubic-foot gondola first built in 2006. This Athearn Genesis model captures the prototype’s nine build variations, multiple body and end styles, and top-chord options, and it features full brake rigging, etched crossover platforms, metal grab irons, and newly-tooled Barber S-2-E 100-ton trucks with animated bearing caps and printed road numbers. A removable scrap load is included for non-covered versions, and the car is weighted to NMRA standards for reliable operation.

On the layout, it uses body-mounted McHenry lower-shelf couplers for smooth, prototypical coupling and is finished with metal and plastic brake piping for added realism. Designed for HO-scale layouts, it’s built to handle standard curves, with a minimum radius of 22 inches and 24 inches recommended for best clearance.
