HO NSC 6400 Gondola with Scrap Load is a detailed HO-scale freight car designed to replicate National Steel Car’s modern 6,400-cubic-foot gondolas. This release captures the nine build variations introduced since 2006, including multiple body styles, end configurations, top chords, and ladder options to reflect the car’s evolution on real railroads. A removable scrap load adds realism for yard and scrap interchange scenes, while etched crossover platforms, metal grab irons, and accurate brake piping help deliver a prototype-accurate appearance.

The model rides on newly-tooled Barber S-2-E 100-ton trucks with animated bearing caps and printed road numbers, and is weighted to NMRA standards for reliable operation. Body-mounted McHenry lower-shelf couplers support smooth, authentic handling, while detailed brake piping uses both metal and plastic components. Designed for HO layouts, it requires a minimum radius of 22 inches, with 24 inches recommended, so it fits well in typical freight yards and mainline scenes.
