HO FCA VersaCoil Gondola MBKX #168801 (ATHG77012)

HO-scale VersaCoil gondola car designed to move steel coils on a model railroad. This Phase 2 version includes a removable hood and reproduces the prototype’s coil-service details, with a transverse trough that accommodates coils from about 30 to 72 feet in size for safer, more efficient loading and unloading. Removable coils are included for realistic handling on the layout.

Inside and out, the car is richly detailed: separately applied grab irons, etched metal coupler platforms, and 100-ton roller-bearing trucks with animated rotating caps; lift bars, trainline hoses, brake hoses, and hardware; machined metal wheels with RP25 contours for smooth operation on HO track; body-mounted McHenry operating scale-knuckle couplers; and a carefully weighted body for stable tracking. It’s designed for HO layouts with curves down to about 18 inches, with a practical minimum radius of 22 inches. The model faithfully represents multiple VersaCoil phases, including Phase 2, which features removable hoods to mirror prototype configurations.
