HO VersaCoil Gondola — Phase 2 MBKX is an HO-scale coil car designed to move large coils on freight trains with authentic detailing. Phase 2 MBKX bodies feature removable hoods (Phase 1 cars did not), and the model includes separate wireform grab irons, etched metal coupler platforms, 100-ton roller bearing trucks with rotating bearing caps, coupler lift bars, trainline hoses, brake hoses, machined metal RP25 wheels, body-mounted operating scale knuckle couplers, and weighted construction for steady, reliable operation.

VersaCoil gondolas use a transverse trough design to hold coils from 30' to 72', improving loading efficiency and reducing edge damage from train slack. The model reproduces four of the five VersaCoil phases, including Phase 2 MBKX with removable hoods, and features detailed underbody work, etched platforms, hoses, and other prototypical touches. It runs on standard HO track with an 18-inch minimum radius and 22 inches recommended for the smoothest performance.
