HO G2.0 SD59M-2 Union Pacific 9908 Locomotive (ATHG80163)

Union Pacific SD59M-2 HO-scale locomotive model, UP 9908, recreates UP’s rebuilt fleet on an HO layout. Based on the SD60M Phase 2 design and re-designated as SD59M-2, this model includes a newly built flared radiator section, an extended step guard on the conductor’s side, a 4500-gallon safety fuel tank, and a windowless nose door. The UP 9908 scheme features the Lightning Stripe with Nose Shield and Wings for an authentic UP appearance.

Inside and out, the locomotive is packed with prototypical detail and performance features for reliable operation. It features see-through cab windows and a full cab interior, fine-scale Celcon handrails, walkways, windshield wipers, lift rings, wire grab irons, sander lines, and see-through steps. The fuel tank includes fillers, gauges, and breather pipes. The Genesis driveline uses a 5-pole skew-wound motor with precision flywheels and a multi-link drivetrain for smooth, quiet operation, plus all-wheel drive and all-wheel electrical pickup. LED lighting, RP25-contour wheels, and a heavy die-cast frame add to its presence on the rails. It is fully assembled and ready-to-run, with DCC-ready Quick Plug 21-pin NEM connector and McHenry scale knuckles (Kadee-compatible). Road-number specifics for 9908 include Lightning Stripe with Nose Shield and Wings. Sound-equipped variants offer onboard DCC with SoundTraxx Tsunami2, operable in both DC and DCC modes, with MU lashups and CV adjustments. The minimum operating radius is 18 inches (22 inches recommended) for optimal performance.
