HO GP7 Locomotive with DCC & Sound, MEC #566 (ATHG82718)

An HO-scale GP7 locomotive with DCC and sound reproduces Maine Central’s 1950s diesel freight power in the simplified green MEC livery, delivering authentic operation and on-board sound for a convincing layout.

Prototype detailing includes a winterization hatch, full sill skirts, a nose-mounted bell, and tall MU stands, plus see-through cab windows and a full interior. The model rides on Blomberg-B trucks with a heavy die-cast frame for traction, LED lighting, etched radiator and fan grilles, scale handrails, and body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible). It uses a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor, precision flywheels, and a multi-link drivetrain for smooth, quiet operation, with all-wheel electrical pickup and RP25 wheel contours. DCC-ready Quick Plug technology with a 21-pin NEM connector makes decoder upgrades straightforward, and the minimum radius is 18 inches. Sound-equipped versions feature an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound and dual speakers; the sound system runs in both DC and DCC, with full DCC functions available in DCC mode and engine, horn, and bell sounds active in DC operation.
