HO GP9 Locomotive, Road Number 170, is a highly detailed HO-scale model designed to faithfully reproduce a GP9 switcher on a model railroad layout. The road-number 170 version features a smaller fuel tank and forward-side fuel fillers to match prototype specifications, while offering a full cab interior, see-through cab windows, etched radiator grilles, and other scale details that bring mid-century diesel power to life.

Built for reliable operation as well as realism, the GP9 offers a heavy die-cast frame, Blomberg-B trucks, and a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole motor, precision flywheels, and a multi-link drivetrain for smooth, quiet pulling. It includes all-wheel drive and electrical pickup, RP25-contoured wheels, and bidirectional LED lighting for consistent headlight brightness. DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play technology and a 21-pin NEM connector, plus body-mounted McHenry knuckle couplers and a detailed fuel tank with fillers and gauges complete the package. Sound-equipped variants add onboard DCC decoding with SoundTraxx Tsunami2, dual speakers, and full DCC functionality, with CVs for customization and a CV chart included.
