HO GATC 2600 Airslide Hopper Model (ATHG87486)

An HO-scale replica of General American Transportation’s Airslide bulk car, the GATC 2600 Airslide Hopper model faithfully captures the look and function of the mid-century design. Representing a 2,600-cubic-foot, 70-ton hopper, this model shows the distinctive air-fluidizing system—two narrow, steep-sided troughs with an air-permeable bottom that lets lading flow smoothly through the roof outlets when air is pumped through it.

Designed for realistic operation on HO layouts, it features three body styles and a detailed underbody with outlet piping, along with options for gravity or gravity-pneumatic outlets. Other authentic touches include a see-through metal roof walk, factory-installed wire grab irons and brake piping, separately applied roof hatches and brake wheel, and a choice of roller bearing or Bettendorf trucks with machined RP25 wheels. The highly detailed, injection-molded body is weighted for steady tracking, uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, and arrives accurately painted and printed. It is designed to run on HO curves as tight as an 18-inch minimum radius and is compatible with two-car drawbar sets to recreate longer Airslide train configurations.
