HO GATC 2600 Airslide Hopper Model (ATHG87490)

HO GATC 2600 Airslide Hopper is an HO-scale replica of General American Transportation's 2,600 cubic-foot airslide bulk car, designed for hauling bulk commodities such as flour, sugar, starch and plastics. The real Airslide concept uses two narrow, steep-sided troughs with an air-permeable bottom to fluidize the load for smooth discharge through the outlets, and some cars were permanently linked into two-car sets to extend capacity.

The model faithfully captures prototype details, offering three body styles, a highly detailed underbody with outlet piping, and options for rectangular or oval shaker brackets. It models gravity or gravity-pneumatic outlets, a see-through metal roof walk, factory-installed wire grab irons and brake piping, plus separately applied round roof hatches and a brake wheel. Rolling stock options include roller bearing or Bettendorf trucks with machined metal wheels in RP25 contours, and the car is weighted for steady performance. Body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers, accurate paint and lettering, and an injection-molded, highly detailed body complete the look. Designed for HO layouts, it requires a minimum curve radius of 18 inches for smooth operation.
