HO GATC 2600 Airslide Hopper ATSF #310149 (ATHG87493)

An HO-scale Airslide hopper modeled after a mid-century bulk-car used by General American Transportation on the Santa Fe line. The 2,600 cubic-foot car uses the Airslide system, two narrow troughs with a porous bottom that air fluidizes the load, allowing powders such as flour, sugar, starch, and plastics to flow smoothly to the outlets for discharge. This faithful model captures the practical look and function of mid-century bulk-car design, providing a believable centerpiece for yard or interchange scenes on an HO layout.

Three body styles are included, with a highly detailed underbody and outlet piping, see-through roof walk, and separately applied round roof hatches and brake wheel. It offers gravity or gravity-pneumatic outlets, and either rectangular or oval shaker brackets. Factory-installed wire grab irons and brake piping, plus a choice of roller bearing or Bettendorf trucks, are reproduced, along with machined metal wheels in the RP25 profile and a weighted chassis for steady tracking. The model uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers and arrives with accurate paint and printing on a highly detailed injection-molded body, designed to run on HO layouts with an 18-inch minimum radius.
