HO-scale GATC 2600 Airslide Hopper is a detailed replica of General American Transportation’s 2,600-cubic-foot Airslide bulk-hopper, a car designed to move powders such as flour, starch, sugar and plastics. The prototype uses two narrow, steep-sided troughs and an air-permeable bottom with an air system to fluidize the load, enabling easy discharge through the outlets when material is poured in through the roof hatches. This model captures that distinctive concept and its place in mid-century bulk-haul equipment.

On the layout, the model offers authentic scale detail and versatile setup: three body styles, a detailed underbody with outlet piping, a see-through metal roof walk, and factory-installed grab irons and brake piping. Separately applied round roof hatches and a brake wheel add to the realism. It rides on either roller bearing or Bettendorf trucks, features machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, and is weighted for steady operation with body-mounted scale knuckle couplers. The injection-molded body is precisely painted and printed, and the design suits HO-scale layouts with a minimum turning radius of 18 inches.
