HO GATC 2600 Airslide Hopper PRR / GACX #44132 (ATHG87497)

HO-scale Airslide Hopper model reproduces the General American Transportation Company's 2,600-cubic-foot airslide covered hopper, a bulk-car designed for flour, sugar, plastics and other free-flowing loads. The prototype’s Airslide arrangement uses air flow through a bottom layer to fluidize the payload for easy discharge through the outlets, and some cars were even paired into longer two-unit sets for greater capacity. This PRR/GACX-painted version adds period-specific character to HO freight rosters.

Highlights include three body styles, rectangular or oval shaker brackets, gravity or gravity-pneumatic outlets, a see-through metal roof walk, and separately applied round roof hatches and brake wheel. The model features detailed underbody piping, factory-installed wire grab irons and brake piping, and the choice of roller bearing or Bettendorf trucks on machined RP25 wheels. Weighted for steady operation and equipped with body-mounted McHenry scale-knuckle couplers, it arrives with accurately painted and printed detailing on a highly detailed injection-molded body, and is designed to run smoothly on HO layouts with an 18-inch minimum radius.
