HO GATC 2600 Airslide Hopper Model (ATHG87643)

HO-scale GATC 2600 Airslide Hopper is a detailed HO-model of a mid-century bulk-carrier designed to move powders and other bulk materials that require controlled discharge. Built around the Airslide concept, it uses two narrow, steep-sided troughs with an air-permeable bottom to fluidize the load and enable smooth flow through the outlets, recreating the 2,600-cubic-foot configuration originally used by General American Transportation for specialized bulk service.

The model emphasizes realism with a highly detailed injection-molded body and a weight-balanced chassis for steady running. It offers three body styles and authentic underbody details such as outlet piping, a see-through metal roof walk, roof hatches and a brake wheel. It rides on either roller bearing or Bettendorf trucks with machined metal wheels in RP25 contours and uses body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers. Complete with factory-installed wire grab irons and brake piping and accurate painting and printing, this car is designed to perform reliably on HO layouts with an 18-inch minimum radius.
