HO Trinity 3-Bay Covered Hopper is an HO-scale replica of Trinity Steel’s widely used three-bay hopper, designed to carry agricultural products, sugar, dry chemicals, and other similar goods. The model reproduces the 5161 cubic foot capacity, making it a realistic addition to unit-train or general freight consists on modern North American layouts.

Two body styles replicate 10-panel and 12-panel configurations, with a coupler cut lever and air hose on each end for braking realism. A separate brake cylinder, valve and air reservoir with wire brake plumbing add authentic detail, while a photo-etched metal roofwalk enhances the roofline. The car rides on Genesis 100-ton trucks with animated spinning roller bearing caps and uses body-mounted, scale-knuckle McHenry couplers with a standard draft gear box and screw-on lid. 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours ensure smooth operation on most HO track, and weighting provides stable performance. The minimum radius is 18 inches, and the model is primed for grime weathering—faded base colors matched to the prototype provide a ready starting point for adding grime and rust to achieve an authentic in-service look.
