HO Trinity 3-Bay Hopper is a detailed HO-scale model of Trinity Steel’s three-bay covered hopper, designed to bring authentic North American freight traffic to HO layouts. Built for smooth operation on standard tracks, it captures a faithful in-service appearance that blends with other rolling stock on a realistic layout.

Two body styles are represented (10-panel and 12-panel variations), with authentic underframe details such as a photo-etched roofwalk, a coupler cut lever and air hose on each end, and a separate brake cylinder, valve and air reservoir with wire brake plumbing. The car rides on Genesis 100-ton trucks with animated spinning roller bearing caps and uses 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours for reliable performance on popular HO track brands, while being weighted for optimum handling and designed for a minimum radius of 18 inches. It is primed for grime modeling, with base colors matched to the prototype to provide a realistic starting point for adding grime and rust. In prototype terms, Trinity’s three-bay hopper—about 5,161 cubic feet in capacity—was widely used to haul agricultural products, sugar, and dry chemicals across North America, making it a familiar and versatile sight on many layouts.
