NSC 6400 Gondola with Load is a detailed model of National Steel Car’s 6,400 cubic foot capacity freight car, built to faithfully reproduce the prototype and shipped with a removable scrap load for realistic freight scenery on your layout. It’s designed to bring authentic modern gondola operation to the layout, with true-to-life proportions and finish that appeal to both collectors and active model railroaders.

Authentic details include separately applied metal grab irons, etched crossover platforms where applicable, accurate brake piping in metal and plastic, bent-wire coupler cut levers, and rubber train-line hoses. The car rides on screw-mounted 100-ton roller-bearing trucks and uses body-mounted McHenry lower-shelf knuckle couplers, paired with machined metal wheels in RP25 contours for smooth running. The injection-molded body is highly detailed and accurately painted for prototypical realism, and the model is weighted for stable operation on a range of layouts. It’s compatible with all popular track brands, with a minimum radius of 11 inches and a recommended radius of 15 inches, and the included removable scrap load completes its freight-car presentation.
