The NSC 6400 6,400-cubic-foot Gondola with Load is a detailed HO-scale freight car modeled after National Steel Car’s modern, high-capacity gondolas. This Genesis model faithfully captures the prototype’s size and distinctive details, including a removable scrap load to reflect typical yard and interchange service.

Designed for reliable operation on hobby layouts, it features separately applied metal grab irons, etched crossover platforms, and accurate brake piping in metal and plastic, along with bent wire coupler cut levers and rubber train-line hoses. It rides on screw-mounted 100-ton roller bearing trucks and uses body-mounted McHenry lower-shelf knuckle couplers, with machined metal wheels sporting RP25 contours for smooth tracking. The injection-molded body is highly detailed, and the finish is painted and printed for prototypical realism while the model is weighted for stable operation on most track brands. Operation on tighter curves is supported with a minimum radius of 11 inches, though a 15-inch radius is recommended for best handling.
