NSC 6,400-Cubic-Foot Gondola Car with Load is a highly detailed scale model designed to bring modern freight operations to a layout. This representation of the National Steel Car 6,400-cu-ft gondola includes a removable scrap load to recreate yard and interchange scenes with authentic visual impact.

Detail is built in at every level: separately applied metal grab irons, etched crossover platforms where applicable, and accurate brake piping in metal and plastic; bent wire coupler cut levers; rubber train line hoses; screw-mounted 100-ton roller bearing trucks; body-mounted McHenry lower-shelf knuckle couplers; machined metal wheels with RP25 contours; and an injection-molded body that is highly detailed and painted for prototypical realism. The model is weighted for smooth, reliable operation on a wide range of track brands and is designed to work on standard radii, with a minimum of 11 inches and 15 inches recommended for best performance. Prototype background notes reflect the car’s development beginning in 2006, its 6,400-cu-ft capacity, and the variety of top-chord and end variations, full brake rigging, and other detailing reproduced to enhance layout realism.
