An N-scale VersaCoil gondola car reproduces the real coil-hauling gondola, using a transverse trough that can carry coils from 30' to 72' in a single car. This design speeds loading and enhances safety by keeping coils secure during handling and train movement, delivering a believable depiction of prototype coil service on a model railroad. Phase 2 variants reproduce hooded configurations, while Phase 1 bodies are hoodless.

Standard features include 100-ton roller bearing trucks and body-mounted McHenry knuckle couplers for smooth operation on most brands of track.Machined RP25 wheels, an accurately painted injection-molded body, and weighting contribute to realistic detail and stable performance. It runs on curves as tight as 11 inches minimum radius (15 inches recommended) and, depending on the release, some Phase 2 bodies include removable hoods; additional authenticity comes from removable coils, detailed underbodies, etched metal platforms, rubber train-line hoses, coupler cut levers, and metal grab irons.
