N FCA VersaCoil Gondola (ATHGN13752)

The VersaCoil Gondola is a detailed scale model of the coil-carrying freight car used to move metal coils. Its transverse trough design makes loading and unloading coils—ranging from 30 to 72 feet—efficient and safer. The model is offered in two phase configurations: Phase 1 bodies without hoods and Phase 2 bodies with removable hoods, mirroring real-world variations.

Under the shell, the car features screw-mounted 100-ton roller bearing trucks, body-mounted McHenry lower-shelf knuckle couplers, and machined metal wheels with RP25 contours for authentic operation and appearance. The injection-molded body is highly detailed and weighted for stable performance on most track brands. It is designed to run on all popular brands of track, with a minimum radius of 11 inches and a recommended radius of 15 inches. The model includes removable coils and a rich array of detailing such as etched metal platforms, rubber train-line hoses, coupler cut levers, and metal grab irons; hood options vary by prototype, with some versions including removable hoods.
