It covers two configurations: Phase 1 Canadian Pacific bodies without hoods and Phase 2 bodies for NS, NOKL, and MBKX with removable hoods.

The VersaCoil concept uses a transverse trough design to hold coils across the car, improving loading efficiency and reducing edge damage during handling. The model rides on screw-mounted 100-ton roller bearing trucks with body-mounted McHenry lower-shelf knuckle couplers and machined RP25 wheels for smooth operation. The injection-molded body is accurately painted and printed for prototypical realism, and the car is weighted for dependable tracking on most popular brands of track. It features a detailed underbody with etched platforms, rubber train-line hoses, coupler cut levers, and metal grab irons, with removable coils included; Phase 2 variants may also include removable hoods. The design mirrors the real VersaCoil lineage, captured across multiple phases to reflect its purpose and use on modern layouts.
