The VersaCoil Gondola model recreates the versatile coil car used to haul steel coils, featuring a transverse trough that speeds loading and protects coil edges for a range of coil sizes from 30 to 72 feet. Canadian Pacific Phase 1 bodies are shown as earlier versions without removable hoods, while Phase 2 variants—NS, NOKL, and MBKX—include removable hoods for added realism and roster variety.

The model sits on screw-mounted 100-ton roller bearing trucks and uses body-mounted McHenry lower-shelf knuckle couplers, with machined metal wheels in RP25 contours for smooth operation on most track brands. The highly detailed injection-molded body is weighted for steady handling and finished with accurate paint and printing to capture prototypical realism. Removable coils, a detailed underbody, etched platforms, rubber train-line hoses, coupler levers, and metal grab irons complete the look, and the design is compatible with radii as small as 11 inches (15 inches recommended) for reliable performance on typical layouts.
