GATC 2600 Airslide Covered Hopper is a detailed scale model created for model railroading, reproducing General American Transportation Company's 2,600-cubic-foot airslide hopper. This mid‑century bulk-car design used an air-permeable bottom to fluidize the load for easy discharge, and the replica captures the car's distinctive two-narrow-trough bays and carefully rendered exterior. It’s designed to run on standard model railroad track and pairs with other cars to create authentic mid-century freight consists.

Its workmanship focuses on authentic detail and smooth operation: an injection-molded body that’s accurately painted and printed, a fully realized underbody with outlet piping, and realistic features such as gravity or gravity-pneumatic outlets, machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, and either roller bearing or Bettendorf trucks. The model includes factory-installed wire grab irons and brake piping, separately applied round roof hatches and a brake wheel, and body-mounted McHenry knuckle couplers. It’s weighted for reliable rolling and packaged in a clear jewel box for storage. In prototype terms, some 2,600-cu‑ft Airslide cars were permanently connected in two-car drawbar sets to form a 5,200-cu‑ft capacity, a configuration this model can echo when paired with a second car.
