N ACF 2970 Covered Hopper CB&Q Model (ATHGN24691)

This N-scale model recreates CB&Q's ACF 2970 two-bay covered hopper, designed to carry dense bulk loads such as cement or sand. The prototype dates back to the 1950s, with the Centerflow design introduced in the 1960s to provide structural strength and easier gravity unloading.

Detailing includes photo-etched roof walks, separately applied wire grab irons and brake piping, a detailed underbody, and body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. The model is weighted for smooth operation, built with a highly detailed injection-molded body, and finished with realistic paint and printing. It uses an 11-inch minimum radius to fit a wide range of layouts and represents a 2,970-cubic-foot, two-bay hopper. New features include rubber train line hoses, separately applied coupler cut levers, and a lower-shelf McHenry coupler for added prototypical detail.
