N ACF 2970 Covered Hopper NAHX #90401 (ATHGN24692)

This N-scale ACF 2970 Covered Hopper model reproduces a classic two-bay hopper car designed for dense bulk loads such as cement and sand, with a 2,970 cubic foot capacity. The prototype first entered service in the 1950s and was updated in the 1960s with the Centerflow design, which uses a rounded body for structural strength and easier gravity unloading.

The model features a highly detailed injection-molded body, photo-etched roof walks, and separately applied wire grab irons and brake piping, along with a detailed underbody. It rides on body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, is weighted for smooth operation, and is painted and printed for realistic decoration. Designed for a minimum 11-inch radius on layouts, it also includes newer details such as rubber train line hoses, separately applied coupler cut levers, and a lower-shelf McHenry coupler for added realism.
