NSC 6000 Gondola with Load Model (ATHGN6720)

NSC 6000 Gondola with Load is a detailed scale model of National Steel Car’s 6,000 cubic-foot capacity gondola, designed to populate modern freight trains on a model railroad. Part of the Athearn Genesis line, this car includes a removable scrap load to recreate realistic loading scenarios.

Built for prototypical realism and dependable operation, it features separately applied metal grab irons and etched crossover platforms where applicable, accurate brake piping in metal and plastic, bent wire cut levers, and rubber train line hoses. The car rides on screw-mounted 100-ton roller bearing trucks and uses body-mounted McHenry lower-shelf knuckle couplers, with machined metal wheels in RP25 contours for smooth performance. The injection-molded body is highly detailed and finished with precise paint and printing, and the whole model is weighted for stable running—making it a strong, ready-to-run addition to a modern roster.
