An N-scale 40-foot steel boxcar Set D, this four-car ensemble faithfully recreates mid-20th-century freight cars that were a familiar sight on the New York Central system and in interchange across North America. Dressed in NYC, RDG, and DLW markings, the set is ready to run, letting you quickly build an era-appropriate freight roster on your layout.

Built with a plastic ABS body and ABS chassis, the cars ride on metal wheels with milled axles for smooth, friction-free movement, and feature separate applied details such as a sliding main door, steel roof walkway, brake wheel and platform, plus a detailed underbody. They include operating knuckle couplers and are compatible with Code 55, 70, and 80 rails, with a minimum radius of nine inches for reliable operation. The design also includes variations such as two door styles and two end-cap styles, along with rectangular-paneled roofs, AB brakes, ARA U-section trucks, and a steel-grid running board along the top. The models arrive fully assembled and decorated for immediate placement in a scene.
