HO USRA 40' Steel Boxcar (NH) 2-Pack (BLI7279)
The N USRA 40' Steel Boxcar is a model that represents the historical significance of steel boxcar construction in America, particularly those from the New York Central system. Originating shortly before World War I, the NYC and PRR pioneered the all-steel box cars, with the NYC Specification 486 becoming a notable design. This model exemplifies the second most populous steel boxcars in the United States, second only to the PRR X29 cars. These boxcars were prevalent from the 1920s through the late 1950s, widely spotted on the New York Central system and other North American railroads.
Crafted with a plastic (ABS) body and chassis, the boxcar features metal wheels and axles designed for ultra-smooth and friction-free movement. It includes separate applied details like a sliding main door, a steel roof walkway, a brake wheel, and platform for added realism. The model boasts a detailed underbody and operates with knuckle couplers, making it compatible with Code 55, 70, and 80 rail tracks, with a minimum operating radius of 9 inches. Each 2-pack of this model is completely assembled and decorated, containing two distinct cars, each with different road numbers.
