HO ATSF Blue Goose Locomotive #3460 As Delivered (BLI7391)

The HO ATSF Blue Goose Locomotive, numbered 3460, presents a remarkable piece of railroading history. Originally part of the Santa Fe's 3460 class, these locomotives, known as the 'Super Hudson' 4-6-4 steam engines, were built by Baldwin in 1937. The #3460 was the only streamlined locomotive in the Santa Fe fleet, delivered in a striking light blue and silver paint scheme, which led to its affectionate name, the 'Blue Goose'. Shipped to Shopton, Iowa in January 1938, this locomotive became famous for pulling several of the Santa Fe's prestigious passenger trains until its retirement and subsequent scrapping in 1956.

This model captures the distinctive features of the original Blue Goose as it appeared when first delivered in 1938. Featuring handcrafted brass elements for the boiler, cab, and tender, along with a heavy die cast chassis, it exemplifies high-quality craftsmanship. The locomotive also includes an advanced Paragon4 sound system that provides synchronized puffing smoke and a series of realistic sound effects for an immersive experience.

With prototypical light operations and numerous intricately applied details, including handrails and piping, this model represents an authentic portrayal of this iconic locomotive. It is designed for both display and operation, making it an excellent addition for model railway enthusiasts.
