An HO-scale Boston & Maine Berkshire T1a 2-8-4 steam locomotive with a four-axle tender, this model faithfully reproduces the iconic Berkshire class for authentic operation on an HO layout. It is offered in two configurations: a Stealth Series version that is DCC-ready with no sound, and a Paragon4 version with built-in sound, giving hobbyists the option to add full audio when desired.

Die-cast locomotive and tender bodies provide substantial heft for realistic pulling power, while a 5-pole can motor with a skew-wound armature delivers smooth, controlled operation at slow speeds. Lighting includes directional front and rear headlights out of the box, with other lights illuminated from track power. The Paragon4 variant arrives with an 8-ohm speaker pre-installed for quick sound installation, while Stealth Series models remain DCC-ready without onboard sound. The model faithfully reproduces the T1a’s four-wheel tender and includes a Coffin feedwater heater extending forward from the smokebox, along with numerous separately applied details such as handrails, ladders, piping, cab glass, whistle, and a brass bell.
