HO-scale Santa Fe GA-73 AAR 70-ton Triple Hopper is a four-car set that faithfully recreates the bulk-commodity open hoppers common to North American railroading from the late 1930s through the 1980s. Built to prototype blueprints, this GA-73 design captures the era’s look with crisp detailing, and the four uniquely numbered cars let you form authentic Santa Fe or mixed-length consists on your layout.

Details include fine rivet work, wire grab irons, and separately molded brake lines and hoses. The model offers two brake housing options (Ajax and Miner) and three brake wheel styles (Ajax, Miner and Modern), plus two newly-tooled 70-ton trucks (one solid bearing and one roller bearing) with an improved mounting design for stable HO-track performance. A brake-test stencil is printed on the reservoir, and the trucks feature brake shoe and brake-beam detail. Metal wheelsets with prototypical wheel-face contours ride smoothly, and metal Kadee-compatible knuckle couplers ensure reliable operation with other HO equipment. The coal load is removable to reveal a decorated interior, and the decoration is prototypically accurate with builders’ stencils, trust lettering and repack data. The four-car pack provides four uniquely numbered cars, making it easy to form realistic era-appropriate freight trains.
