HO AAR 70-ton Triple Hopper ATSF GA-73 (BLI8102)

HO scale Santa Fe AAR 70-ton triple-hopper is a detailed reproduction of a classic North American bulk car used to move coal, gravel, coke and other bulk loads. Based on prototype blueprints, this model captures the car’s proportions with accurate scale and rivet detail, wire grab irons, and separately molded brake lines, while metal wheelsets and Kadee-compatible knuckle couplers ensure reliable operation on a hobby layout.

Inside and underframe are richly finished, featuring a removable ABS coal load, decorated interior, and faithful stenciling and lettering. The model offers multiple brake components to match different prototypes: two brake housing options (Ajax and Miner) and three brake wheel configurations (Ajax, Miner and Modern), plus two newly-tooled 70-ton trucks—one with solid bearing and one with roller bearing—and an improved truck mounting design for steady tracking. Four-car sets are uniquely numbered, making it easy to build varied, era-appropriate coal trains on display or under way.
