HO AAR 70-ton Triple Hopper B&O W-7 Model (BLI8103)

The HO AAR 70-ton Triple Hopper in the B&O W-7 paint scheme is an exemplary model of a freight car that was once ubiquitous on the railroads, representing approximately 6% of all open hoppers and about 1.5% of the entire North American freight car fleet at its peak. These cars first appeared in the late 1930s, and many remained in service into the 1980s, showcasing their durability and utility.

Over 33,000 of these cars were manufactured for more than 30 different railroads, originally designed for hauling bulk commodities such as coal, gravel, and coke across vast distances. This model is meticulously crafted from prototype blueprints, featuring intricate fine rivet details, wire grab irons, and various brake line configurations that mirror real-life designs.
